PERTUMBUHAN DIAMATER DAN TINGGI TANAMAN KAPUR (Dryobalanops aromatica Gaerth) BERUMUR 10 TAHUN DI KEBUN RAYA UNMUL SAMARINDA
The purpose of this research is to know the growth of height and diameter of camphor tree (Dryobalanops aromatica Gaerth) aged 13 at Botanical Garden Unmul Samarinda (KRUS). The expected result of this research is to give one of the considerations of management to the parties in the development of camphor plants (Dryobalanops aromatica Gaerth) age 13 years, especially in East Kalimantan.
The research method used is by simple random sampling method. The sampling method is one simple sampling technique that is used to select a sample from the population. All trees in the study area were given a total number (227 trees) and then drawn as many as 100 trees as observed samples. The selected trees are measured in diameter and height. The results of the measurements were descriptively and statistically simple.
Based on the results of the analysis and discussion, it can be concluded the growth of camphor plants (Dryobalanops aromatica.Gaertn) varies greatly for diameter and height, this is due to some shade plants (grown under shade) due to land preparation with a system of paths and spacing is wide can maximize the growth of plant diameter. The suggestion given is that if camphor plant (Dryobalanops aromatica.Gaertn) destined for wood production then there should be silvicultural action, especially thinning. However, if the purpose of planting is for species enrichment, light thinning is also needed so that all camphor plants can get sunlight.
