Abstract

To improve plant growth, efforts are made to improve soil quality through inoculation of arbuscular mycorrhizal JMA (JMA) and compost application. The JMA association with plant roots extends the root surface to increase water and nutrient absorption. The compost application, besides aiming at providing nutrients, also increases soil porosity to support plant growth, and the development of JMA. Therefore, the effectiveness of JMA and compost can be expected to be further enhanced if both are applied together. The study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of JMA and compost on the growth of cocoa seeds. The experimental design used was Randomized Block Design (RBD) with factorial patterns. There are 2 treatment factors, namely JMA Inoculation and compost dose. Each treatment level was JMA Inoculation, ie Without mycorrhizae (m0), mycorrhizae 10g (m1), mycorrhizae 15g (m2), mycorrhizae 20g (m3) and doses of siam weed compost, consisting of No compost (k0), compost 100g ( k1), Compost 200g (k2), and Compost 300g (k3). The results showed that the combination of JMA inoculation and compost dosage increased the growth and quality of cocoa seedlings for observed growth variables and root colonization. Thus the best combination treatment recommended to produce M2K2 cocoa seeds produces dry weight of dry weight and high root colonization
